Durham Friends Meetinghouse

Thanks for visiting. My name is Craig Freshley and I have given several messages (like sermons) at my local Quaker Meeting over the years, Durham Friends Meeting in Maine.

I believe that Quaker Messages are not given by us, but through us. These message are not mine. They came to me and I’m passing them on. There are many Quaker messages to be found on the internet, at your local meetinghouse, and in your heart. These happened to come through me. You are free to further pass them on however you like.

In these messages I’m not trying to tell you how to think or what to do. I’m not trying to get you to be a Quaker. Rather I’m just sharing some thoughts and actions in hope that they will help you figure out what works best for you.

At this website are recordings of messages that I have given since January 2017, although I gave many prior to that. All these messages have been given to Durham Friends Meeting in Durham, Maine except the August 27, 2017 message which was given at Allen’s Neck Friends Meeting, Dartmouth, Massachusetts and the April 27, 2024 Ministry Report which was given to Falmouth Quarterly Meeting at a Brunswick, Maine gathering.

The four messages in June and July of 2017 are part of a series in which I explored: How in the hell am I supposed to sleep well? In other words: How to find peace in a world that seems so heated? How am I supposed to respond to what I read and hear in the news and social media? I can so easily despair in the face of news about environmental destruction, animal cruelty, poverty, war, and injustice. What is my responsibility to all that? What is your responsibility to your fears? How are we to find peace in the midst of our fears for our future?
